65-Inch and Larger TVs: Samsung Gains Ground in Pricing

Although an LG model earns top marks in testing with a score of 81/100, Samsung is clearly winning the price war with a television nearly 600 euros less expensive.

It’s important to note that both models represent excellent quality. What justifies the 600 euro premium for the LG television?

LG offers a slightly superior picture (contrast, color accuracy and uniformity, deep blacks), which could be a deciding factor for discerning film enthusiasts.

The LG television delivers optimal picture quality regardless of viewing angle. This is a significant consideration for those with larger living rooms where multiple viewers are frequently watching the screen simultaneously.

  • Intuitive WebOS Interface

For users who heavily rely on apps and Smart TV navigation, LG’s WebOS is often considered more intuitive and responsive, impacting the daily user experience. However, 2025 models received slightly lower ratings due to LG removing the mute button and color buttons.

  • A “Gallery” Wall Mount

If a clean, integrated wall installation is desired – with no space between the wall and the panel – the LG (particularly the “G” series) is the preferred choice. The television is designed for this purpose and the wall mount is included.

For consumers seeking a high-end television without significant compromises, but at a more reasonable price, the Samsung model is a strong contender.

Strengths:

  • Excellent picture quality: natural colors, high contrast, perfect blacks.
  • Very wide viewing angle: excellent picture quality even when viewed from the side.
  • Solid reflection handling (moderately lit environment)
  • Smooth image: too for sports and gaming, low response time.
  • Rich, clear and pleasant sound
  • Intuitive menus and interface (WebOS)
  • Very good connectivity: 4x HDMI 2.1, 3x USB, headphone jack, Ethernet, Bluetooth, WiFi
  • High-quality finish, extra-flat design and wall mount included
  • Low power consumption for this screen size
  • Refresh rate of 165Hz, good for gamers.

Weaknesses:

  • High price (approximately 600 euros more than the Samsung S90F)
  • No standard foot included (only available as an option), only wall mount
