During a moment in Resident Evil Requiem, Leon is shown wearing a wedding ring, a detail that also appears in concept art for the game. The game does not reveal the identity of his spouse, a detail that quickly ignited debate within the fan community. Some fans are betting on Ada Wong, the enigmatic ally-rival with whom Leon has always shared a clear romantic chemistry, while others champion Claire Redfield, with whom he has had numerous interactions over the years.
Instead of engaging in reasoned discussion, some fans began sending direct messages to Nakanishi and publishing the responses online. The messages that circulated appeared to hint at the possibility of Ada being Leon’s wife, without directly confirming it.
