The statements come after several reports suggested potential backchannel communications. According to Sky News Arabia, officials stated that these reports are inaccurate.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, also dismissed the claims, describing the reports as “fake news.” Investing.com reported on Qalibaf’s denial.
The denials follow reports from American officials who, according to Al Arabiya, the White House is reportedly viewing Qalibaf as a potential future leader.
These developments occur amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region and ongoing discussions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program. The lack of direct communication between Washington and Tehran continues to complicate diplomatic efforts.
