Real Madrid Facing Potential Departures of Key Players Weir and Feller
Real Madrid is bracing for the possibility of losing two key players, Caroline Weir and Naomie Feller, as both approach the end of their contracts and are evaluating options for the future, according to multiple sources.
Both players’ deals expire at the end of the current season, and pessimism is growing within the club regarding their continued commitment. Negotiations for renewals have so far stalled, and sources indicate that both Weir and Feller are leaning towards departures.
The club believes both players have received significant offers from other teams and are preparing for them to move on after this season. This situation contrasts sharply with the recent success Real Madrid had in securing a long-term contract extension for star player Linda Caicedo through 2030.
Weir, who joined from Manchester City in 2022, is considered a pivotal player alongside Caicedo and is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. The Scottish midfielder was nominated for the Women’s Ballon d’Or in 2025 and played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s historic first win over Barcelona in March 2025. Her potential departure would be a significant blow to the team’s attacking prowess.
French forward Naomie Feller is also considering options outside of Real Madrid. Like Weir, she arrived at the club in 2022, and her future with the team is now uncertain as she weighs proposals from other clubs.
Losing both Weir and Feller as free agents would be a substantial setback for Real Madrid. However, the club is actively working to strengthen the squad, and Mayra RamÃrez, a forward from Chelsea, is reportedly on their list of potential signings.
