Repair perform, initially expected to last until Wednesday afternoon, was completed ahead of schedule overnight.
Train service between Prague and Beroun was disrupted Tuesday afternoon after damage to overhead power lines near Černošice. The incident, which occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. In the section between Dobřichovice and Prague-Radotín, caused significant delays and cancellations. The disruption to rail traffic impacts commuters and regional travelers alike.
According to a spokesperson for the Railway Administration (SŽ) for emergencies, Martin Kavka, the railway crossing in Černošice, above which the power lines were damaged, had to be closed, and police diverted traffic.
The collectors on two trains were also damaged as a result of the incident, and the cause is under investigation.
Train service was initially restored along a single track at 5:40 p.m., but limitations continued. Full service was not anticipated to resume until Wednesday at noon.
“Repair of the overhead lines will take until Wednesday noon (estimated). Service is still limited to one track, with speed restrictions near the repair site. This incident will impact Wednesday morning’s rush hour. We recommend passengers monitor the information channels of the Railway Administration and carriers,” Kavka told reporters at 8:34 p.m.
However, the overhead lines were successfully repaired overnight. Service was fully restored without restrictions at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday.
