Delémont’s libraries and the local ludothèque (game library) are joining forces for the first time to host BiblioWeekend, a national event, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The collaboration aims to blend the worlds of books and games, offering a unique experience for attendees.
The adult library will host two introductory sessions on strategy gaming with miniatures. Registration is required for these sessions, with details available here. This initiative reflects a growing trend of using gamification to engage audiences with traditional learning methods.
The youth library will feature a Kapla building challenge, testing participants’ dexterity in constructing the most impressive creation. Attendees can likewise participate in storytelling sessions where they’ll bring narratives to life using props and figurines.
The ludothèque will offer a retro gaming experience, inviting visitors to compete on the original Mario Kart. A giant search-and-uncover activity will also be available, challenging players to locate hidden elements within oversized books.
A contest will be held across all three locations, requiring participants to answer questions on a questionnaire. Completed entries will be entered into a drawing for one of three prizes. The event marks the first joint initiative between the libraries and the ludothèque since their recent consolidation, as reported by the city of Delémont.
Further information about BiblioWeekend 2026 can be found at the adult library, located at Rue de l’Hôpital 47, 2800 Delémont, or by calling +41 32 421 97 70. The ludothèque, a municipal resource offering over 3,000 games for monthly loan, is increasingly recognized as a valuable community hub, as detailed on the Delémont website. The event also follows announcements regarding changes to the city’s journal, now rebranded as Horizon, and upcoming roadwork on the route de Porrentruy, as noted on the city’s main page.
