Following a successful PC launch earlier this year, the developers of Mewgenics, Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, previously confirmed plans for future downloadable content and console ports. Given the small, independent nature of the development team, expectations for a swift rollout were tempered.
But, a console version – or at least a release for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 – may be closer than anticipated. McMillen recently shared an image on social media showcasing Mewgenics running on the Nintendo Switch 2. While the image appears to be taken over-the-shoulder, the game’s performance looks promising, suggesting a potential launch timeframe closer to initial expectations.
Although a specific release date has not been announced, the gameplay footage indicates significant progress, particularly in adapting the controls for a gamepad and achieving acceptable performance levels. The interface has as well been adjusted for the new control scheme.
This suggests that players may soon be able to experience Mewgenics on Nintendo’s next-generation system, offering a portable gaming experience for the unique title.
