Palembang, Indonesia – On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (TP PKK) of Palembang, in collaboration with Rumah Sakit Mohammad Hoesin (RSMH), launched a unified vaccination service called “Imunicare” to strengthen immunization coverage across all age groups in the city.
The initiative was announced by Dewi Sastrani Ratu Dewa, Chair of TP KK Palembang, during the launch event at RSMH. She emphasized that Imunicare is more than a vaccination service—It’s a community-driven movement aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of immunization, particularly in preventing vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles.
“We want to ensure that children and adults alike are protected from diseases that can be prevented through vaccination,” Dewi stated. She highlighted that while adequate health facilities are essential, they must be paired with strong public literacy to achieve maximum immunization coverage.
Fenty Apriana, Head of the Palembang City Health Office, presented epidemiological data showing a significant spike in measles cases early in 2026, peaking during the ninth epidemiological week around the Idul Fitri period. But, she noted that mass immunization interventions have since led to a declining trend in cases.
“Thanks to consistent mass and targeted immunization efforts, the current trend is beginning to plateau,” Apriana said. “We continue to promote routine immunization and catch-up vaccination for children aged 9 to 59 months to establish herd immunity.”
The Dinkes (Palembang City Health Office) has implemented mitigation strategies following the measles surge, focusing on public education and expanding access to immunization services. The collaboration with RSMH through the Imunicare program aims to broaden lifelong vaccination access and improve health literacy in the general population.
TP PKK cadres at the neighborhood level are being mobilized to serve as frontline educators in their communities, leveraging family- and community-based approaches to increase vaccine uptake. Dewi urged collective responsibility, stating that while services are now available and accessible at RSMH, the next step is encouraging the public to apply them.
The launch of Imunicare comes as a proactive and preventive response to earlier measles outbreaks, with officials expressing hope that the program will expand immunization reach beyond children to include adults, thereby reinforcing community-wide protection.
