Argentine television host Nicolás Repetto has opened up about the emotional unraveling of his relationship with Florencia Raggi, revealing that the pandemic-era isolation became the turning point in their long-term partnership.
Speaking candidly in recent interviews, Repetto explained that the couple’s bond began to fray during the height of the coronavirus crisis, when lockdowns and uncertainty disrupted their routines and emotional connection. While Raggi remained in Buenos Aires with their children, Repetto chose to isolate himself at their seaside property in La Juanita, Uruguay — a decision that deepened the physical and emotional distance between them.
“We weren’t doing well, especially her,” Repetto said, reflecting on that period. “The lack of function, the global uncertainty, and being apart took a heavy toll.”
It was during this solitary time, facing the monotony and emotional strain, that Repetto turned to music as an outlet. He composed the song “Flotar” while living alone in Uruguay, describing it as a direct message to Raggi born from frustration, and heartache.
The track’s central metaphor — choosing to float rather than struggle against a strong current — became his way of processing the realization that continuing to fight for the relationship was no longer productive.
“There are moments when you have to row, and moments when it’s not worth rowing as you’re going against the tide,” he explained. “When the situation gets that hard, the best thing you can do is float.”
He even likened his emotional state to “a paper boat someone let move in the river” — fragile, adrift, and at the mercy of forces beyond his control.
Repetto emphasized that the distance was not just geographical but emotional, noting that both he and Raggi were navigating personal struggles that made reconnection difficult. The crisis, he said, was not fleeting but one of the most challenging periods they had faced as a couple.
Despite the pain, Repetto framed “Flotar” as a creative transformation of sorrow — a way to give voice to feelings that words alone could not express. The song, he said, emerged not from poetic inspiration but from a deeply intimate and painful moment in his life.
His openness about the separation marks one of the first times he has publicly detailed the internal dynamics of the breakup, offering fans a rare glimpse into the private toll of fame, isolation, and love under pressure.
