From Constant Clashes to ‘I Do’: Ridho Illahi Reveals the Surprising Truth Behind His Marriage to Anindya Caroline

FTV actor Ridho Illahi and his wife, Anindya Caroline, may look like a blissful couple now, but their journey to the altar was far from a traditional fairy tale. In a candid revelation, the couple admitted that their marriage was born not from a peak of romance, but from a point of extreme exhaustion and a relationship that had nearly collapsed.

Speaking in Gunung Putri, Bogor, West Java, on May 9 and 10, 2026, Ridho opened up about the volatile nature of their courtship. Despite being together for over a year, the couple—who share a 16-year age gap—struggled significantly with communication and clashing egos. Ridho described the period as a cycle of major arguments that left both parties feeling drained.

“It’s actually quite funny,” Ridho recalled. “We had been dating for over a year and fought often. My ego was still large and with her being 21, nearly 22, her ego was growing too.” He noted that as a man, his own pride played a role, leading them to a breaking point where the relationship felt disconnected and unsustainable.

As the couple reached a state of hopelessness, it was 22-year-old Anindya who proposed a radical solution to save their bond. Rather than ending the relationship, she suggested they commit to each other permanently.

“If we still want to get back together, let’s just get married,” Anindya recalled. “At that time, the relationship was right on the edge. it felt hopeless. It was like, if we’re going to break up, then break up. But if we want to move forward, let’s just marry.”

Anindya admitted she was simply tired of the repetitive “date-and-fight” pattern and hoped that the legal and spiritual bond of marriage would act as a catalyst for maturity. According to the couple, the gamble paid off; since tying the knot, they report that the explosive fighting has ceased, replaced by manageable debates.

The couple officially wed on January 23, 2026, in a low-key ceremony. To avoid potential obstacles and unwanted complications, they opted for a private wedding held at Ridho’s residence in Padang, West Sumatra, officiated by the local Head of the KUA.

Ridho explained that the decision to keep the event simple and secret was partly due to the overwhelming complexity of planning a reception. With family ties spanning Padang, Java, and Bali, the couple found themselves paralyzed by the challenge of integrating three different cultural traditions. “We were confused thinking about the reception… So we decided the most important thing was to be halal first; the reception can follow,” Ridho said.

By choosing a path of sudden commitment over a prolonged struggle, Ridho and Anindya have transformed a relationship on the brink of failure into a stable partnership, proving that for some, the leap of faith into marriage is the ultimate remedy for relationship turmoil.
