The Secretariat General of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) has deactivated the jury and master of ceremonies (MC) following a controversial incident during the “4 Pillars” Smart Competition (LCC Empat Pilar) in West Kalimantan.
The dispute centered on Josepha, a student from SMAN 1 Pontianak, whose response during the competition was reportedly not heard by the judging panel. According to reports from CNN Indonesia, the MC of the event has since issued a public apology regarding the situation. Further details from PontianakPost indicate that speaker interference was the primary reason Josepha’s voice did not reach the jury.
In response to the failure, the MPR Secretariat General took immediate action to nonactivate the competition’s officials. The decision to remove the jury and MC was made to address the lapses in the proceedings, as noted by Kompas.com.
Following the outcry, the Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) stepped in to offer a scholarship to Josepha, as reported by detikNews.
The incident highlights the critical importance of technical reliability in high-stakes academic competitions to ensure fairness and transparency for all student participants.
