Trump’s Health Under Scrutiny as Advisor Links Medication to ‘Brain Fog’

A senior advisor to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has publicly suggested that Donald Trump’s current medications may be contributing to health concerns, including reported instances of cognitive impairment.

Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a British cardiologist and chief medical and scientific advisor to Make Europe Healthy Again, addressed the European Parliament today, October 15, 2025, outlining his concerns. He specifically cited the potential effects of statins and aspirin, commonly prescribed for cholesterol management, as possible causes of “brain fog” and fatigue in the former president. Malhotra believes discontinuing these medications could lead to improvements “within just a few weeks.” He stated, “In my view President Trump is a remarkable man… but if I was his personal physician I’d want to optimize him even further, and the first step would be to stop his aspirin and the cholesterol lowering medications.”

The comments come amid ongoing speculation about Trump’s wellbeing, fueled by public gaffes and a recent White House disclosure in July regarding a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency. An annual health report released in April confirmed Trump’s high cholesterol levels were “well controlled” with rosuvastatin, ezetimibe, and low-dose aspirin. Malhotra’s views on statins are not universally accepted within the medical community; the British Heart Foundation, for example, has described his assertions as “misleading and wrong.” Concerns about potential side effects of statins, including cognitive impairment, have been raised by the Food and Drug Administration, though these are generally considered rare.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to the claims by stating that Trump “is moving, he’s working, he’s continuing – there have been no adjustments made to his lifestyle.” This debate over Trump’s health is particularly relevant as he is the oldest person ever sworn in as president, and his fitness for office has been a recurring topic of discussion.
