Daisy Edgar-Jones and Emilia Jones to Star in Historical Crime Drama “Bad Bridgets”
Daisy Edgar-Jones (“Twisters,” “Sense & Sensibility”) and Emilia Jones (“CODA,” “Task”) are set to lead the cast of “Bad Bridgets,” a new feature film from director Rich Peppiatt.
The project, inspired by the book “Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women” by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick, tells the story of a young woman’s dangerous journey from famine-stricken Ireland to 19th-century New York, where she joins a group of Irish immigrant women known as “Bridgets” who are causing trouble in the city. LuckyChap Entertainment is producing, with FilmNation handling sales at the American Film Market. This film adds to the growing trend of historical dramas focusing on previously untold stories of women.
Peppiatt, who won a BAFTA for his directorial debut “Kneecap,” will also write the screenplay. “Bad Bridgets” will be produced by Coup d’Etat Films, Peppiatt and Trevor Birney’s production banner. The film is slated to shoot in Northern Ireland and Ireland in spring 2026, and will feature production design by James Price and costume design by Kate Hawley. Peppiatt’s previous film, “Kneecap,” garnered significant acclaim, including seven British Independent Film Awards and a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Filmmaker.
Representatives for the actors and director confirmed the casting today. Production is expected to begin as scheduled, with further casting announcements anticipated in the coming months.
