Packers Cornerback Nate Hobbs Suffers MCL Sprain, Expected to Miss Multiple Games

Green Bay Packers cornerback Nate Hobbs is expected to miss at least the next two games after sustaining a grade 1 MCL sprain in his knee, an injury that occurred after he recently returned from a separate knee injury.

An MRI conducted yesterday revealed the small tear in Hobbs’ MCL, though surgery is not currently required, according to reports. Hobbs had been limited to 23 defensive snaps over the past two weeks following his recovery from surgery to repair a torn meniscus. This latest setback further strains the Packers’ depth in the secondary, a key area for success in the NFC North.

The Packers are now reportedly considering adding a veteran presence to the cornerback position, with free agent Asante Samuel Jr. emerging as a potential candidate. Samuel recently received medical clearance to resume football activities after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in April. You can find more information about spinal fusion surgery on the Mayo Clinic website.

Team officials have not yet announced a specific timeline for Hobbs’ return, but a grade 1 MCL sprain typically requires several weeks of recovery. For more on the Packers’ roster and injury updates, visit the official Packers injury report.

The team will continue to evaluate Samuel and other options as they navigate Hobbs’ absence.
