Atlanta’s Fifth-Tallest Building Tops Out, Marking End of Office Construction Boom

A new mixed-use tower at 1072 West Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta has reached its full height of 749 feet today, November 7, 2025, becoming the city’s fifth-tallest building and signaling the end of a significant era of office construction in the area.

The 60-story building, developed by Rockefeller Group and designed by New York-based firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, includes 422,000 square feet of office space, as well as residential and retail components. The “topping out” ceremony was held this afternoon, marking a major milestone in the project that began construction two years ago. This completion comes as Atlanta’s office market grapples with evolving work patterns and a slowdown in demand for traditional office space.

The tower represents a $520 million investment and is expected to offer a mix of luxury residences, street-level retail, and modern office environments. “Getting ‘to the top’ is something we’ve been looking forward to,” said a Rockefeller Group representative. The project also includes approximately 37,000 square feet of outdoor space and aims to create a vibrant, walkable urban experience. Officials anticipate the building will be a catalyst for further development in Midtown, contributing to the area’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and commerce. According to Zachary Hansen of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the tower is “not for the faint of heart,” reflecting the scale and ambition of the project. The building is slated for completion in 2026.
