Providence Argos Secure Top Seed in Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament

HELENA, Mont. — The Providence Argos will enter the Frontier Conference volleyball tournament as the No. 1 seed, following an undefeated 21-1 conference record and securing their second consecutive regular-season title.

The Argos (28-2 overall) have earned the first of two automatic bids to the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Tournament opening round, scheduled for November 22nd. Bellevue (Neb.) claimed the No. 2 seed with a 24-3 overall record, while MSU-Northern will be seeded third. A three-way tie for fourth place required a tiebreaker, ultimately awarding the No. 4 seed to Dakota State (S.D.), followed by Montana Tech at No. 5 and Carroll College at No. 6.

Yesterday’s conference standings also determined the remaining tournament slots: Valley City State (N.D.) earned the No. 7 seed, and Montana Western will be No. 8. Dickinson State (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), Bismarck State (N.D.), and Rocky Mountain will not participate in the postseason. The tournament will be held November 13-15 at the Carroll College PE Center. This tournament is crucial as it determines which teams will advance to the national stage and compete for a championship.

The tournament schedule begins Thursday, November 13th, with Montana Western facing Providence at noon, followed by Montana Tech versus Dakota State at 2:30 p.m., Valley City State against Bellevue at 5 p.m., and Carroll College taking on MSU-Northern at 7:30 p.m. Tournament officials stated that the champion will receive the second automatic bid to the NAIA national tournament, with the runner-up receiving it should Providence win the tournament.
