Poland’s annual Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) drive is underway, raising funds for essential medical equipment for children’s digestive health [[1]]. The event has become the subject of political scrutiny following questions raised by journalist Agata Młynarska regarding President Karol Nawrocki’s public stance on the widely-supported foundation, and whether he would utilize WOŚP-funded resources for his family if needed. Młynarska directly appealed to the President to reconsider his position, highlighting the organization’s decades-long impact on Polish healthcare [[2]].
This year’s fundraising drive, themed “Healthy Bellies for Our Children,” will direct donations toward the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases in young patients. Organizers report that over 1,600 local headquarters and approximately 120,000 volunteers are participating in the effort. Jerzy Owsiak shared that online auctions are already seeing significant activity, with a final tally expected mid-February.

During the live broadcast in Warsaw, Agata Młynarska spoke with a reporter from “Fakt” about President Karol Nawrocki’s position regarding the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). She noted the President hasn’t publicly expressed clear support for the organization. However, Młynarska suggested that he would undoubtedly utilize medical equipment purchased through WOŚP if his daughter ever required it.
— I think anyone with a good heart, imagination, and a rational understanding of what’s happening in Poland supports WOŚP — regardless of political goals. It’s sometimes easier to say you don’t support it, but if it came to saving his daughter and needing equipment from WOŚP… — she paused.
Młynarska Appeals to the President to Reconsider
Młynarska then directly addressed Karol Nawrocki, emphasizing the importance of the issue. — Mr. President, I know what would happen then, truly. This is an important matter, and it’s important for the people of Poland — she concluded.
Młynarska also urged Karol Nawrocki to reconsider his stance toward the Jerzy Owsiak Foundation. She highlighted WOŚP’s long-standing record of providing real assistance to Polish hospitals, with the donated equipment saving the health and lives of both children and adults. Owsiak himself noted that the foundation has delivered over 81,000 pieces of equipment, valued at nearly 2.6 billion złoty, to medical facilities over its 34 years of operation.
