A British couple in their fifties was removed from a Jet2 flight and placed on the airline’s lifetime ban list after engaging in explicit sexual activity on board while the plane was still on the ground preparing for takeoff.
The incident occurred on a flight from the UK to Gran Canaria, Spain, according to eyewitness Darren, who told The Sun that the couple’s behavior was “extremely intimate” and “very blatant,” noting visible movement in the man’s tracksuit pants.
Darren and his wife reported the couple to cabin crew after feeling shocked and disgusted by what they described as inappropriate conduct in the presence of other passengers, including children.
When confronted by flight attendants, the couple claimed they were praying due to nervousness about flying for the first time, a explanation Darren dismissed as implausible, remarking that they seemed to believe the crew had just arrived on Earth.
Despite the captain initially considering turning the aircraft around, the flight proceeded to its four-hour destination. Upon landing, Jet2 staff immediately removed the couple from their pre-booked partner hotel, canceled their return flights, and imposed a lifetime ban from the airline.
The airline confirmed the action in a statement, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy for such behavior as a family-friendly carrier and reiterating that it will not tolerate actions that compromise passenger comfort or safety.
This case underscores the growing scrutiny of passenger conduct on flights, particularly as airlines enforce stricter standards to maintain orderly and respectful cabin environments amid increasing reports of disruptive behavior.
