América de Cali has begun building its squad for the 2026 season with a notable international signing. The Colombian club announced Wednesday the acquisition of Venezuelan winger Darwin machís, bringing in a player with extensive experience in European football. Machís, 32, joins La Mecánica Celeste from Universidad Central de Venezuela, marking the fifth foreign country in his professional career. The move is intended to strengthen América de Cali’s attacking lineup as they prepare for upcoming league competition.
América de Cali has secured Venezuelan international Darwin Machís as their first signing ahead of the 2026 season. The 32-year-old winger joins from Universidad Central de Venezuela, bolstering the Colombian club’s attacking options.
“Explosivity and imbalance for the offensive zone! The skillful winger Darwin Machís is our first reinforcement to face the challenges of 2026,” the Valle del Cauca club announced on social media.

In a follow-up post featuring Machís in his new colors, the club added: “With his talent, character and extensive experience in European football, Darwin Machís is now ready to defend the colors of the Passion of a People.”
Colombia will be the fifth foreign country for Machís, who has a rich history playing in Spain (Granada, Huesca, Leganés, Cádiz and Real Valladolid) as well as stints with Vitória Guimaraes of Portugal, Udinese of Italy and Juárez FC of Mexico. This move represents a significant addition for América de Cali as they prepare for a competitive season.

With Universidad Central de Venezuela, where he arrived in August of the previous year, Machís scored four goals and provided one assist in nine matches, only three of which were as a starter. He also debuted with the Venezuelan national team, La Vinotinto, in 2011 and has since made 52 appearances, scoring 11 goals for his country.
