Two people were injured in a stabbing incident late Monday night at Amsterdam’s Olympic Stadium following the Kingsland Festival, Dutch authorities confirmed. Police detained a suspect at the scene.

The attack occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Local time on April 27, as festivalgoers were leaving the venue, according to law enforcement. Emergency responders transported both victims to a nearby hospital for treatment, though their injuries were not reported as life-threatening.

The Kingsland Festival, an annual electronic music event, had drawn thousands of attendees to the stadium earlier in the day. The incident marked a jarring finish to what organizers described as a largely peaceful celebration, raising concerns about security at large-scale gatherings in the city.

Amsterdam police said the suspect, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack but confirmed an investigation is underway.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes as crowds dispersed from the stadium. “People were running in every direction,” one attendee told reporters at the scene. “It all happened so swift.”

The Olympic Stadium, a historic venue originally built for the 1928 Summer Olympics, has hosted numerous high-profile events in recent years. City officials said they were reviewing security protocols in light of the incident.

No additional arrests have been made, and police urged anyone with information to approach forward. The investigation remains active.
