Technically, this function requires the corresponding apps to be installed on both devices. In what’s called app-to-app mode, a direct deep-link is created to the relevant activity. If the app isn’t present on the destination device, Handoff automatically switches to a web version of the application, ensuring users can continue their work without delay. Android 17 provides developers with new opportunities to optimize their apps for the Handoff function. Although the Handoff function isn’t yet active in the Android 17 Beta 1, its potential is already apparent.
