Lithuanian banking customers experienced brief service interruptions friday as Swedbank, the country’s largest financial institution, addressed internal systems issues [[2]]. While some customers reported difficulty accessing in-person and telephone support, core services like card payments and mobile transactions remained operational. The disruption comes amidst increased scrutiny of financial infrastructure stability globally, wiht recent outages impacting institutions across multiple countries [[3]].

Customers of a Lithuanian bank experienced temporary disruptions to services, with some unable to access assistance at branches or via telephone, according to reports. The bank, a significant player in the Baltic financial market, confirmed the issues stemmed from internal systems problems.

A bank representative, Gytis Verčinskas, stated, “Due to short-term disruptions in the bank’s internal systems, some customers arriving at the bank branch or calling by phone were unable to receive some of the usual services.”

However, Verčinskas confirmed that card payments and transactions made through mobile devices continued to function normally throughout the outage. This suggests the disruption was limited to specific internal processes rather than a broader systemic failure.

“Currently, the disruptions have been eliminated and customer service is operating as usual,” Verčinskas added. The quick resolution of the issue likely mitigated potential damage to customer trust and market confidence.
