- Drei britische Anwälte reisten 2014 durch die USA.
- Sie trafen auf einer Party in Alabama drei US-Jurastudentinnen.
- Daraus entstanden drei transatlantische Liebesgeschichten.
A chance encounter at a bar in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2014 led to three separate transatlantic love stories, as reported by CNN. The unlikely beginnings highlight the unpredictable nature of connection and the enduring power of chance meetings.
Three young lawyers from Leeds, England – Chris, Charlie and Luke – were embarking on a road trip across the United States, opting to stray from typical tourist routes. Their travels led them to a bar in Birmingham, Alabama, where a local bartender mentioned a party being held for law students. On a whim, the three Britons decided to attend, a decision that would dramatically alter the course of their lives.
At the party, they met Alice and her friends. Chris and Alice immediately felt a connection. Though they didn’t exchange numbers that night, they reconnected through Luke, who passed along Alice’s contact information. What followed was a long-distance relationship fueled by frequent messages and visits between the United Kingdom and the United States. Just a year after their initial meeting, Chris proposed, and the couple soon married.

The story took another turn at Charlie and Becca’s wedding, where Charlie and Alice’s friend Becca found themselves drawn to each other. Though they had met briefly before, it wasn’t until that weekend that a spark ignited. They remained in contact, and soon their own transatlantic relationship blossomed, eventually leading to marriage.
And the connections didn’t stop there. At Charlie and Becca’s wedding, Luke and Jessica were seated next to each other. From their first conversation, there was an instant rapport. They talked for hours, laughed, and shared a kiss that same evening. From that encounter grew a long-distance relationship, and later, a marriage.
Do you believe in fate or coincidence when it comes to finding love?
More than a decade later, Alice and Chris live in North Carolina with their three children, whereas Becca and Charlie reside in Texas with their three children. Luke and Jessica are based in Dubai. Despite living on different continents, the three couples have remained close, regularly communicating, visiting each other, and their children knowing one another. Luke believes it all began with a slight coincidence – “a real ‹Butterfly Effect› fairytale.”
