Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz stunned Real Madrid 100-89 on Sunday, February 22, 2026, to claim the 2026 Spanish Copa del Rey title. The victory at Roig Arena in Valencia marked Baskonia’s first Copa del Rey win in 17 years.
Real Madrid started strong, but Baskonia battled back to tie the game at 26-26 at the end of the first quarter.
The second period saw Real Madrid build a 10-point lead, but Baskonia responded after halftime, largely thanks to the shooting of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot.
The final quarter was a barrage of three-pointers, with Baskonia finding their range and ultimately turning the tide.
Baskonia outscored Real Madrid 33-17 in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory.
This is Baskonia’s seventh Copa del Rey title, their first coming in 2009 with Dusko Ivanovic at the helm. The win provides a significant boost to the club’s season.
Trent Forrest was named the tournament’s MVP after a stellar performance in the final, contributing 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists.
