Venezuela’s Official Dollar Rate Hits 489.55 Bolivars on May 4
The Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) has adjusted the official exchange rate to 489.5547 bolivars per U.S. Dollar for May 4, 2026. This latest figure, reported by Finanzas Digital, represents a 0.5% increase.
The current valuation follows a period of steady growth throughout the previous month. The official dollar rate closed April at 487.12 Bs, which was a 2.80% climb compared to March levels. This trend of incremental rises was already evident by April 30, when the Central Bank reported new increases.
The currency’s movement is coinciding with broader economic shifts. According to reports from LaPatilla.com, the official dollar recently neared a new record high, while the Euro experienced a sharp spike. These fluctuations occurred following an increase in the minimum comprehensive income.
The continued volatility of the exchange rate, as tracked by the reference rates for May 4, underscores the ongoing challenges of monetary stability and the impact of wage adjustments on the local economy.
