Kärnten will once again host a beach volleyball tournament in late May. However, this event is separate from those previously organized by Hannes Jagerhofer. The new competition in Pörtschach am Wörthersee will be part of a nationwide Austrian Beach Volleyball Tour.
Organizers and the Austrian Volleyball Federation are set to reveal full details on Tuesday. The new location in Pörtschach am Wörthersee will become a key stop on a national series featuring Austria’s top teams alongside international competitors. This tournament is a distinct event from the former world-class competitions long organized in Klagenfurt and Vienna by event manager Hannes Jagerhofer.
The Austrian Beachtour, now in its eleventh year, is expected to feature 18 locations across Austria this year, including eight Master tournaments – the highest-level events on the schedule. Pörtschach am Wörthersee will be among them. The season will culminate with the Austrian Championships in Kitzbühel.
Werzer Arena to Undergo Renovations
Wolfsberg, Klagenfurt, and Lienz in East Tyrol have previously hosted events on the tour. Now, the action comes to Pörtschach for the first time, with both men’s and women’s teams competing on the sand. Matches will be played in the existing Werzer Arena, which currently offers around 1,000 seats. With plans to host the tournament in the coming years as well, upgrades to the arena’s infrastructure are planned.
