Dense fog is expected to develop overnight and linger through Monday morning, potentially impacting visibility across parts of the region. The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (KMI) has issued a warning for localized fog banks over the southeastern portion of the country, according to reports from Sunday.
The KMI also cautioned that visibility could drop to less than 100 meters in some areas. A yellow code is in effect, indicating potentially hazardous conditions for drivers and others traveling during the affected period. The warning extends through midday Monday.
This latest advisory follows a similar warning issued earlier in the week regarding fog formation. The KMI previously noted that moist air moving inland from the North Sea was contributing to the development of mist and low clouds. The current conditions are expected to create similar challenges for travelers.
The reduced visibility poses a risk to transportation safety, and authorities are advising caution to those planning to be on the roads during the foggy conditions. This situation underscores the importance of checking weather forecasts before traveling, especially during periods when fog is predicted.
