Bpost Launches Belgium’s Largest Parcel Locker System in Ghent

Bpost has officially opened its largest parcel locker installation in Ghent, Belgium, on February 11, 2026. The new “Bbox” system, located in Klipperstraat, features 244 lockers, including three extra-large units capable of accommodating packages up to 175 centimeters in height.

The 13-meter-long, four-ton automated parcel station represents a significant investment in bpost’s expanding network of self-service delivery points. This expansion comes as online shopping continues to reshape logistics and last-mile delivery solutions.

According to company data, usage of Bbox lockers increased by 62 percent in the past year, with parcel pickup and returns rising by 42 percent. Bpost plans to have 3,500 of these automated systems installed across Belgium by the end of 2026, aiming to ensure that every resident has access to a locker within a five-minute reach.

The new Bbox in Ghent has been visually branded with an image of a carrier pigeon and the text “Vree gruut, vree wijs” (meaning “Exceptionally large, very wise” in the local dialect). Customers who used the lockers on opening day received a box of Ghent’s traditional cuberdon candies.

The lockers offer 24/7 access for parcel pickup and drop-off. Customers can receive parcels by scanning a QR code sent via email or through the My bpost app. The My bpost app, utilizing Bluetooth and location services, also facilitates parcel retrieval from lockers without a screen. For sending or returning parcels, customers can purchase and affix labels directly to their packages.

Bpost’s Bbox parcel lockers provide a secure and convenient alternative to traditional delivery methods, allowing customers to collect and send packages at their convenience. The installation in Ghent is a key component of bpost’s strategy to modernize its delivery infrastructure and meet the growing demands of e-commerce.
