Ukrainian forces have launched what authorities are calling their largest-ever attack on the city of Belgorod, Russia.


According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties as a result of the shelling. The regional operational headquarters announced the attack via its Telegram channel, stating, “The most massive shelling of the city of Belgorod has been carried out.” Several energy facilities sustained damage, and emergency response teams and medical personnel have been dispatched to the affected areas.

A communal building also caught fire during the bombardment, with Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel working to extinguish the blaze. Falling debris ignited a fire in a residential yard within the city. Debris also landed in the village of Tavrovo, located in the Belgorod region.

“The roofs of two private homes were damaged. Information regarding the full extent of the damage is still being assessed,” the operational headquarters added.

Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed via Telegram that Belgorod had experienced “the heaviest shelling” to date, likely from HIMARS systems.

Gladkov also reported that the shelling had caused damage to energy infrastructure.

At 10:01 PM local time, Gladkov issued a missile warning for Belgorod and the Belgorod region, as well as for Shebekino and the Shebekinsky district.
