A commemorative exhibition celebrating the Benidorm Fest and the Festival of Song of Benidorm opened today at Benidorm City Hall, offering a look back at the history of both events through documentation, records, press clippings, trophies, and posters. The display marks the beginning of events leading up to the sixth edition of Benidorm Fest, a popular Spanish music competition that serves as a qualifier for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The festival’s semifinal galas are scheduled for February 10 and 12, with the grand final taking place on Saturday, February 14 at the Palau d’Esports L’Illa de Benidorm. Later today, participating artists will walk the fuchsia carpet at the Centro Cultural, followed by a welcome party at 8:00 p.m. local time. Renowned DJ Tony Aguilar is set to perform from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with an after-party to follow at the Don Pancho hotel.

Earlier today, local authorities visited the exhibition at City Hall, including Mayor Toni Pérez, Councillor for Events Jesús Carrobles, and other members of the city council. Representing RTVE (Spain’s public service broadcaster) were Head of Communication María Eizaguirre, Director of the RTVE Archive Virginia Bazán-Gil, and members of the public broadcaster’s Board of Administration, Rosa León and Angélica Rubio.

During the visit, Mayor Pérez highlighted “the value of the archives of RTVE and the Benidorm City Hall and the great collaboration between both entities, which gives an idea of the great work that is being carried out.” The Benidorm Fest has become a significant cultural event for the city, drawing attention to the region and showcasing emerging musical talent.
