Big East women’s basketball saw a pair of compelling contests Wednesday, as Villanova routed DePaul and St. John’s narrowly defeated Marquette. Ryanne Allen rounded out the Wildcats’ double-digit scorers with 10 points. For DePaul, Kate Novik led the way with 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Gina Davorija reached a career-high 10 points. Villanova’s decisive win showcased their offensive firepower and defensive intensity. The Blue Demons struggled in the third quarter, going scoreless for an eight-minute stretch as Villanova extended their lead to a commanding 62-30.
St. John’s 73 at Marquette 66

A balanced scoring attack powered the Red Storm, with five players reaching double figures: Beautiful Waheed (14 points), Brooke Moore (13 points), Jailah Donald (12 points), Shaulana Wagner (11 points), and Daniela Abies (11 points). Wagner also dished out a game-high 9 assists. Marquette was led by Skylar Forbes with 16 points, and Halle Vice recorded her second consecutive double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jaidynn Mason chipped in 14 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Down the stretch, St. John’s clamped down defensively, holding Marquette to just 1-of-7 shooting in the final minutes. Waheed and Donald sealed the victory with clutch free throws in the final 25 seconds. The game featured six ties and seven lead changes, highlighting the competitive nature of the contest.
