Alessandro Bastoni dispossessed Riccardo Orsolini and surged down the left flank. His cross found Thuram at the far post, who unleashed a powerful volley that beat the Bologna goalkeeper.

Falling behind early, Bologna responded with sustained pressure, creating a chance for Federico Bernardeschi. However, his attempt was thwarted by a crucial save from Josef Martinez.

Inter conceded a penalty in the 35th minute after Yann Bisseck was called for a handball while attempting a clearance. Orsolini calmly converted the spot-kick, leveling the score at 1-1.

The first half ended with the score tied. At the start of the second half, Inter were awarded a penalty when Bonny was fouled by Torbjorn Heggem, but VAR overturned the decision, ruling that Bonny had initiated the contact.

Lautaro Martinez entered the game in the 71st minute to bolster Inter’s attack, but his efforts proved unsuccessful. Federico Ravaglia denied Martinez’s attempt with a strong save.

With the score remaining 1-1, the match went to a penalty shootout. Inter only managed to convert two of their attempts, with Lautaro and Bastoni finding the back of the net.

Bologna secured a 3-2 victory in the shootout, with Ciro Immobile scoring the decisive penalty. They will now face Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana final. Inter suffered defeat, mirroring the semifinal exit of their city rivals, AC Milan.
