Botafogo is nearing a deal to sign Edenílson, the midfielder currently in talks to leave Grêmio. The move could bolster the Brazilian club’s midfield options as they continue their season.
Botafogo’s management views Edenílson as a valuable opportunity in the transfer market. The 36-year-old offers versatility, capable of playing multiple positions in the center of the pitch, and brings a wealth of experience to the squad.
The Alvinegro currently have limited options in midfield, with only Danilo, Allan, and recent arrival Wallace Davi available, as Newton has been deployed in the defensive line.
According to reports, Botafogo is similarly pursuing Cristian Medina of Estudiantes and Zé Lucas of Sport to further strengthen the midfield.
This season, Edenílson has scored three goals in seven appearances for Grêmio. Throughout his career, he has played for Corinthians, Genoa, Udinese, Internacional, and Atlético-MG, and earned two caps for the Brazilian national team in 2021.
