Jakarta – Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) is solidifying its position as Indonesia’s leading provider of People’s Business Credit (KUR) heading into 2026. The government-subsidized financing scheme remains a vital tool for micro, minor, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) seeking capital and sustaining operations, particularly as market demand increases leading up to Ramadan.
Throughout 2025, BRI disbursed Rp178.08 trillion (approximately $11.2 billion USD) in KUR loans to 3.8 million borrowers. Looking further back, BRI’s cumulative KUR disbursements from 2015 through December 2025 reached Rp1.435 trillion (approximately $85.3 billion USD), benefiting a total of 46.4 million businesses. This performance underscores BRI’s strategic role in expanding access to financing for the micro, small, and medium enterprise sector across various regions.
Akhmad Purwakajaya, Director of Micro at BRI, explained that KUR financing is primarily directed towards productive sectors with a direct impact on job creation and strengthening national food security. He emphasized that the sustainability of MSMEs, as the foundation of the national economy, is a primary focus in the distribution of these loans.
Financing continues to be concentrated in the production sector, encompassing agriculture, fisheries, food processing, and other productive services. Agriculture currently represents the largest share of funding, receiving Rp80.09 trillion (approximately $4.99 billion USD), or around 45% of BRI’s total KUR disbursements.
BRI’s KUR Options for 2026
According to the official BRI website, two types of KUR are available to meet different business needs and scales: KUR Micro and KUR Small. The main differences between the two lie in the loan ceiling and collateral requirements.
BRI’s KUR Micro
KUR Micro is designed for productive and eligible businesses needing additional working capital or investment with a ceiling of up to Rp50 million (approximately $3,125 USD). This product is suitable for micro-scale businesses that do not yet have additional collateral.
BRI’s KUR Small
KUR Small targets businesses with larger financing needs, ranging from Rp50 million to Rp500 million (approximately $3,125 to $31,250 USD). Borrowers in this category are required to provide collateral as stipulated by the bank.
