Fans of tactical role-playing games have a new title to anticipate with the announcement of Brigandine Abyss, set to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The game was revealed during a State of Play presentation on February 12, 2026, and promises a deep strategic experience in a fantasy setting. Brigandine Abyss centers on a looming threat to the continent of Meltitea, as a powerful empire seeks to conquer the land. Players will choose one of six factions, each led by a unique protagonist, to resist the invasion.

Gameplay will retain the series’ signature hex-based battles, featuring troops comprised of knights, and monsters. The developers are also promising a substantial amount of content, with a new “Mission Mode” offering over 200 hours of gameplay as players take control of 24 different nations, each with distinct victory conditions. This expansive mode builds on the core gameplay loop and offers significant replayability.

The development team behind Brigandine Abyss includes several industry veterans. Masayuki Horikawa, previously of “Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance,” is leading development, even as Rei Kondoh, known for composing music for titles like “Okami,” “Bayonetta,” and “Fire Emblem: Three Houses,” is creating the game’s soundtrack. Junko Kawano, from the “Suikoden” series, is responsible for the character designs.

The latest installment in the Brigandine series carries forward established features like RPG elements and over 100 unique units, each with their own skills, elements, and traits. The game will also introduce brand-new systems, details of which are forthcoming. 3D graphics are intended to enhance the immersive quality of the strategy gameplay.

More information about the game, including a trailer, can be found in a post on the PlayStation blog. The release of Brigandine Abyss signals continued interest in the tactical RPG genre, offering players a complex and engaging strategic experience.
