A member of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) of the Maluku Police, identified as Bripda MS, has been dismissed from the force following an ethics review related to the death of a 14-year-old student, initialed AT, in Tual, Maluku. The dismissal stems from a case of alleged assault.
“The Police Ethics Commission has issued a decision, first, the violator’s conduct is deemed reprehensible. Second, placement in a special detention facility for four days, from February 21, 2026, to February 24, 2026,” said Maluku Police Public Relations Head Kombes Rusitah Umasugi early Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
“And third, dismissal from the National Police,” she added.

The decision followed an ethics hearing held by the Police Ethics Commission at the Maluku Police Propam Directorate’s hearing room. The hearing was led by Kombes Indra Gunawan, accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Police Ethics Commission Kompol Jamaludin Malawa and Police Ethics Code Commission member Kompol Jaku Samusi. Ipda Joni James Holey and Aiptu Edward Jaya served as prosecutors in the hearing.
The hearing began on Monday, February 23, at 2:00 PM local time and concluded on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 3:30 AM. Representatives from the Maluku Provincial National Commission on Human Rights, the Maluku Provincial Women and Children Protection Unit, and the Women and Children Empowerment Foundation were similarly present as external observers.
Marathon Hearing
The hearing was extended due to the extensive witness list, which included nine Brimob members and one victim.
Additional witnesses participated via Zoom from Tual, including one member of the Tual Police Traffic Unit and one member of the Tual Police Criminal Investigation Unit’s Women and Children Protection Division. Two family members of the victim also testified during the hearing.
“The suspect was also questioned,” Umasugi stated.
Bripda MS was found to have violated Article 13 paragraph 1 of Government Regulation Number 1 of 2003 concerning the Dismissal of National Police Members juncto Article 5 paragraph 1 letters b and c, Article 8 letter c number 1, and Article 13 letter m of Indonesian National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Code of Ethics of the Police Profession and the Police Ethics Commission.
Rusitah said Bripda MS is considering an appeal of the dismissal.
National Police Chief Focused on the Case
Maluku Police Chief Irjen Dadang Hartanto stated that National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has directed him to take firm action, thoroughly process the case, and provide justice for the victim’s family, while ensuring a transparent legal process. Irjen Dadang also noted that the National Police Chief has dispatched a team to investigate the matter.
“The National Police Chief also deployed a special case team from the National Police Inspectorate General to conduct a comprehensive oversight, and investigation. The Maluku Police also received assistance from the National Police Professional and Security Division as an internal supervisor, and included external supervisors in the case,” said Irjen Dadang.
