A series of health initiatives, including cancer screenings, HPV vaccinations, and educational sessions, are being offered throughout the region with a particular focus on women’s health and at-risk populations.
Free Mammography Screenings Available in Bergamo and San Giovanni Bianco
Free breast cancer screenings will be available on March 4 and March 5 from 4 PM to 8 PM:
- March 4 – San Giovanni Bianco Hospital
- March 5 – Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo
These screenings are a vital component of early detection efforts, which can significantly improve outcomes for breast cancer patients.
The screenings are intended for:
- Women between the ages of 45 and 49 who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months.
- Women between the ages of 50 and 74 who have not had a mammogram in the last 24 months.
Appointments are required and can be scheduled through the regional portal: prenotasalute.regione.lombardia.it.
Free HPV Vaccination Offered in Bergamo and Zogno
Free vaccinations against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) will be administered on March 4 and March 5 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bergamo Borgo Palazzo Vaccination Center, and on March 5 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Zogno Vaccination Center.
HPV vaccination is a key preventative measure against several cancers and genital warts, making these opportunities particularly crucial for public health.
The vaccinations are available to:
- Girls ages 12 to 26
- Women over the age of 26 who are in high-risk categories
Cervical Cancer Screening: Pap Tests and HPV Tests at Local Clinics
Informational sessions and free screenings are being offered for the prevention of cervical cancer (cervico-carcinoma).
Villa d’Almè – March 4 at 2:30 PM: Group informational session on the Human Papillomavirus. From 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM: Screening. Pap tests for women ages 25-29. HPV tests for women ages 30-64.
Bergamo (Borgo Palazzo Clinic) – March 6 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM: Informational session. From 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM: Screening. Access is free and open to all.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 035.2676326 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2 PM to 4 PM). The screenings are available to women residing in the territory of the Papa Giovanni XXIII ASST (Bergamo and surrounding areas, Villa d’Almè and surrounding areas, Val Brembana and Val Imagna) who:
- Have not had a Pap test in the last 3 years.
- Have not had an HPV test in the last 5 years.
- Have not completed the two-dose HPV vaccination series before the age of 15.
Information Point on Services for Women
On March 3, from 2 PM to 6 PM, an information space staffed by healthcare professionals (health assistants, physiotherapists, midwives, and community and family nurses) will be available in the Hospital Street of the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital. The goal is to provide information about company services dedicated to women’s health and to promote health education.
Workshops on Back Pain and Neck Pain Prevention
Two workshops dedicated to the prevention of back pain and neck pain will be held on March 2 at the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital (Tower 1, ground floor): one at 10 AM and another at 2 PM. The program includes a theoretical part and a practical demonstration. Comfortable clothing is recommended. Registration is required via email: [email protected]
Initiatives from ASST Bergamo Est
In conjunction with World HPV Day and International Women’s Day, ASST Bergamo Est is also organizing two days dedicated to prevention and women’s health, with free initiatives for the local population. The event aims to promote an integrated approach to women’s health, with particular attention to both psychological dimensions and gynecological prevention, valuing the role of territorial services and family health centers.
The day of Friday, March 6, will be dedicated to psychological health, through free consultations offered by company psychologists. The initiative is aimed at women who are going through difficult personal times, stressful situations, or significant changes, or who perceive the need for a space to listen and receive professional support.

• Trescore Balneario
• Clusone

Saturday, March 7, will be dedicated to cancer prevention with the offer of free Pap tests, a fundamental tool for the early diagnosis of cervical pathologies.

• Gazzaniga (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
• Seriate (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
