BYD plans to launch its Racco electric kei car in Japan in mid-to-late 2026, potentially at a highly affordable price point.
The vehicle debuted at the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2025, and details regarding its interior and specifications have since become widely available.

The BYD Racco is expected to be priced at 2.5 million yen, or approximately $270,000. This price is slightly higher than leading kei car models from Honda, such as the N-One, N-Box and N-WGN. However, it remains more affordable than comparable kei cars offered by Mitsubishi and Nissan.

The Racco will be a completely built-up (CBU) import from China, contributing to its competitive pricing.
The vehicle measures 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height. It features a single electric motor producing 27 horsepower, and utilizes a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery offering a maximum range of 180 km.
Recently, the interior of the BYD Racco was unveiled, showcasing a premium cabin design with a white and black color scheme. The vehicle is equipped with a floating touchscreen display and an LCD instrument panel.

Designed with functionality in mind, the Racco includes a center console with storage space and additional drawers located around the center tunnel.
BYD is establishing dedicated kei car dealerships in major Japanese cities, where consumers will be able to place orders for the Racco.
