Jakarta –
BYD is pushing boundaries with its ultra-luxury brand, Yangwang, unveiling a new iteration of its flagship electric sedan, the Yangwang U7, boasting an extended range that’s turning heads in the automotive industry. The vehicle is now claimed to achieve a remarkable 1,000 kilometers on a single charge.
According to data released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Yangwang U7 BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) will offer a massive 150.01 kWh battery option. This “Blade” battery, utilizing Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology, delivers a CLTC-standard range of up to 1,006 km.

For context, previous versions of the Yangwang U7 featured a 135.5 kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 720 to 800 km.
The Yangwang U7 maintains its positioning as a high-performance sedan, built on the e4 (Yisifang) platform and equipped with four independent electric motors. This focus on performance is a key differentiator in the rapidly evolving EV market.
The sedan boasts a maximum power output of 960 kW, equivalent to 1,287 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is reported at just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 270 km/h.

The larger 150.01 kWh battery pack weighs 926 kg, a slight increase from the 903 kg weight of the 135.5 kWh version.
Positioned as a luxury vehicle with a starting price of 628,000 yuan (approximately $1.4 billion) and available in both four- and five-seat configurations, the Yangwang U7 is packed with BYD’s advanced technologies. A standout feature is the DiSus-Z suspension system.
This innovative system replaces traditional hydraulic shock absorbers with electric motors, resulting in a ride quality reportedly smoother than that of a Maglev train, with adjustments made to road conditions in milliseconds. The vehicle also incorporates the “God’s Eye” ADAS system (DiPilot 600), supported by three Lidar sensors for enhanced autonomous driving capabilities.
With these specifications, the Yangwang U7 aims to compete with established luxury sedans from European manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz EQS and BMW i7, while offering a significantly longer driving range.
