Çelik Pays Off Debts for Earthquake Victims in Turkey

Turkish singer Çelik has been gaining attention for his generous support of communities impacted by recent earthquakes. The artist visited local grocery stores and markets in several towns across Turkey, personally paying off the outstanding debts of customers who had purchased goods on credit – a remarkable display of solidarity.

“I CAME TO SHARE WHAT I HAVE”

Describing his efforts, Çelik said, “This might be one of the most enjoyable and peaceful things I’ve ever done in my life. I visited grocery stores and pharmacies in many districts of Hatay. I collected the ledgers one by one. I was especially pleased that the shopkeepers asked only for the debts of those who couldn’t afford to pay to be cleared, and for the accounts of those who could to remain open. That way, I could reach even more people in necessitate… I am just a drop of water in the sea.”

ALSO DISTRIBUTED FOOD PACKAGES

In recent days, the popular singer has been meeting with earthquake survivors in Hatay, and in addition to clearing debts, he has also been providing support by distributing food packages. This act of compassion has been met with appreciation from both local business owners and residents of the region.
