The Chinese diving team completed a dominant performance at the 2026 World Aquatics Diving World Cup in Montreal, Canada, securing all nine gold medals and finishing with a total of 9 gold and 4 silver medals.
The competition concluded on March 1st, with China adding four more gold and two silver medals on the final day. The team featured a blend of established Olympic champions like Wang Zongyuan and Chen Yiwu, alongside emerging young talents such as Jiang Linjing and Cui Jiaxi.
This year’s Diving World Cup was originally scheduled to take place in Zapopan, Mexico, on May 5th, but was canceled due to public safety concerns, making the Montreal event the sole qualifying competition. The World Cup final will be held from May 1st to 3rd at the National Swimming Center in Beijing, where the Chinese team will look to continue their success.
Leading the Chinese squad were Paris Olympic champions Wang Zongyuan, Lian Junjie, and Chen Yiwu. The team also included athletes who were previously reserves and several promising newcomers, signaling a transition period for the Chinese diving program as they look towards the Los Angeles Olympics.
In the men’s 3m springboard final, Wang Zongyuan claimed gold with a score of 540.35, followed closely by teammate Zheng Jiuyuan with 495.15. This result underscored the continued strength of the Chinese men’s diving team on the world stage.
The Chinese duo of Zhao Renjie and Yang Zhihao won the men’s 10m synchronized platform final with a score of 469.23, demonstrating their synchronization and technical skill.
Despite the absence of Olympic champions Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi, the Chinese team’s younger athletes shone in the women’s 10m platform event. Jiang Linjing secured the gold medal with a score of 428.10, a performance that even surpassed Quan Hongchan’s winning score at the Paris Olympics, highlighting the rise of a modern generation of Chinese divers. Cui Jiaxi also delivered a strong performance.
