The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2026 opened to the public on April 24, 2026, marking the start of a ten-day showcase at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi) and the Capital International Exhibition Center. Running through May 3, the event features nearly 200 world premieres across 380,000 square meters of exhibition space spread across two venues and 17 pavilions. Organizers state that the show will display 1,451 vehicles in total, including 181 world premieres and 71 prototypes. The event, also known as Auto China 2026 or the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, carries the theme “Lead the Era, Shape an Intelligent Future.” Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD, used the platform to warn that competition within China’s automotive sector has entered a “brutal elimination phase,” reflecting the intense pressure on manufacturers to innovate amid rapid market evolution. The exhibition underscores China’s growing dominance in the global automotive landscape, with the country continuing to attract investments, new entrants, legacy automakers, and millions of potential buyers. Industry observers note that auto shows have gradually shifted in prominence toward China, which now serves as the epicenter of global market growth. The scale of this year’s Beijing Auto Show positions it as likely the largest automobile exhibition in history, reinforcing its role as a critical barometer for industry trends, particularly in electric mobility and intelligent vehicle technologies. Attendees are expected to number in the hundreds of thousands over the event’s duration.
