French indie game developer Magic Pockets has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming cooperative cleanup game, Clean Up Earth, which aims to translate real-world environmental efforts into gameplay. The campaign went live on January 22, 2026, and a playable demo is currently available on Steam. The full PC release (Steam and Epic Games Store) is slated for the second quarter of 2026, with console versions planned after the Kickstarter concludes.

Clean Up Earth tasks players with cleaning up polluted landscapes, recycling waste, and restoring ancient ruins, witnessing the return of natural ecosystems and wildlife as they progress. The game offers a relaxing and rewarding experience, playable in single-player mode for a peaceful, immersive experience, or cooperatively with friends – supporting up to 30 players in large-scale community cleanup efforts.

Linking Gameplay to Reality: Small Actions Can Make a Difference

At its core, the game promotes the idea that even small actions can have a significant impact when combined with collective effort. “I believe change starts with willingness, not fear,” said Eric Zmiro, founder of Magic Pockets, explaining the team’s desire to avoid creating a game filled with guilt or dread. The developers aimed to create a hopeful experience that encourages collaboration and demonstrates how even minor actions can add up when shared.

Clean Up Earth also features a unique system designed to directly support real-world environmental initiatives through in-game cleanup activities. This donation mechanism was successfully tested in December 2025 through a partnership with Jingle Jam to support WWF (World Wildlife Fund) conservation efforts. The system will continue to evolve in the full release, partnering with trusted organizations like World Cleanup Day, Plastic Pickup, Recyclop, Expedition MED, and Wings of the Ocean to translate digital actions into tangible ecological contributions.

Rich Exploration Content and Community Mechanics

The game boasts several key features, starting with a restorative world-healing experience. Players can revitalize damaged spaces by removing debris, clearing rubble, and reshaping the terrain. Whether playing solo, with friends, or joining large-scale shared cleanup zones, players can experience the positive impact of collective action at a comfortable pace.

To foster teamwork, the game features expansive maps and shared objectives. Large-scale waste piles or reconstruction projects can be completed more quickly and effectively through collaborative effort. Hidden beneath the waste are ancient artifacts and remnants of forgotten civilizations: from “Area 51” to the “Bermuda Triangle,” each map holds secrets that are revealed as the environment is cleaned.
