Cora Schumacher, 49, is dating again. After sharing a cozy photo with a mystery man over the weekend, speculation ran rampant. Now, she’s confirmed to Bild that she’s in a new relationship and shared how the two connected.
“I Feel Incredibly Happy”
“Yes. Steven is my new boyfriend,” Schumacher told the publication. “I feel incredibly happy right now.” She first went public with her new romance on Sunday, posting a photo on Instagram alongside Steven Bo Bekendam.
The pair are smiling at the camera in the snapshot, with Bekendam’s arm around Schumacher, a river visible in the background. Schumacher revealed in the caption that the photo was taken in Wichita Falls, Texas, and shared heartfelt words in English: “He gives me peace, he gives me hope, he makes me believe again. Schumacher and Bekendam shared with Bild that they were brought together by a shared past of heartbreak. The couple has been together for around five months, despite the distance – Bekendam lives in Texas while Schumacher is based in Düsseldorf. They initially connected on a dating app.
“Steven and I share a very deep connection that has grown from a great understanding of each other,” Schumacher explained. “I think that only someone who has experienced similar blows of fate as we both have can understand what is going on inside your partner and what traumatic experiences you are still struggling with.” She added, “It was probably God’s plan that we found each other to heal together.”

The fall of 2024 proved to be a pivotal time for both of them. Prior to this, Schumacher’s ex-husband, Ralf Schumacher, 50, came out publicly during the summer. Cora claims she learned of it through the media and subsequently experienced a breakdown.
Steven was also going through a difficult time, Schumacher told Bild. “We both had to experience a mental breakdown for similar reasons.” This shared experience, she says, is what makes their connection so strong. “I am very grateful that we can support each other.”
