The São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched a civil inquiry to investigate whether the administrative and financial crisis at Corinthians has reached a point warranting judicial intervention in the club’s management.

The possibility of intervention is explicitly stated in the order signed by prosecutor Luiz Ambra Neto, who describes the situation at Corinthians as “extremely serious,” citing indications of wrongdoing in recent administrations and opening an investigation that could lead to the appointment of a provisional administrator.

The action was prompted by a report submitted by prosecutor Cássio Roberto Conserino, who outlined a picture of “administrative disorder” and “economic fragility” capable of compromising the regular functioning of the institution.
