Curacao’s national baseball team has announced its roster ahead of the second Americas Series, a tournament featuring top teams from across the Caribbean and South America. The competition, scheduled for February 5th-13th in Venezuela, will pit Curacao against teams from Venezuela and Colombia, among others, with the ultimate goal of claiming the championship title. The Curacao team boasts a strong lineup including MLB veterans, as well as notable players from the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
Curacao will be one of seven teams competing in the second edition of the Americas Series, taking place from February 5th to 13th at the Simón Bolívar Monumental in La Rinconada and Fórum La Guaira, located in Macuto.
Alongside representatives from Venezuela and Colombia – both eligible to contend for the championship with teams like Navegantes del Magallanes and Caimanes de Barranquilla – Curacao is considered a strong contender, boasting a roster featuring multiple Gold Glove winner, Andrelton Simmons, and veteran power hitter Wladimir Balentien.
The team will also benefit from a significant Venezuelan presence, with several players bringing experience from the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. Pitchers like Osmer Morales, who earned Pitcher of the Year honors in the LVBP, and Néstor Molina lead a group of Venezuelan players set to represent the island nation.
