A player in the Czech republic’s Karlovy Vary region has won a jackpot exceeding $10 million USD in the Sportka lottery, representing one of the largest payouts in the nation’s history. The winning ticket, drawn Sunday, adds to a streak of recent large prizes awarded by Allwyn, formerly known as Sazka, which underwent a rebrand in 2023 after 70 years operating under its previous name. Allwyn is currently running a “Casting for Millionaires” promotion, significantly increasing the odds of winning considerable prizes this January.
A lottery player in the Karlovy Vary region of the Czech Republic has won the equivalent of over $10 million USD in a recent Sportka drawing, marking one of the largest payouts in the country’s lottery history.
The winning ticket, drawn Sunday, matched the numbers 4, 11, 18, 25, 37, and 46, along with the additional number 44. The identity of the winner has not been released by Allwyn, the lottery operator.
Allwyn, formerly known as Sazka, is giving the winner one year to claim the 200 million Czech koruna prize at the company’s headquarters. As of Monday, the winner had not yet come forward.
“We are already looking forward to personally welcoming the winner. Allwyn is opening a new chapter in their life – a chapter full of possibilities, in which they will be able to start fulfilling their dreams and giving them concrete form,” said Martin Babec, lottery category manager for Allwyn Česko, according to a statement.
Beyond the substantial financial reward, Allwyn plans to offer the winner financial and legal assistance, as well as psychological counseling.
The win comes as Allwyn has already awarded 44 millionaires this January alone. The company says that number is expected to climb to at least 70 by the end of the month, thanks to an ongoing “Casting for Millionaires” promotion with Sportka. This surge in winners will surpass last January’s total nearly threefold, according to the company.
