Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged three men with murder in the shooting death of rising Latin singer Maria De La Rosa, known professionally as DELAROSA. The 22-year-old artist was fatally wounded early Saturday morning in Northridge while sitting in a parked car with two friends, who where unharmed. Authorities allege a “predatory attack” motivated by robbery, and have identified the suspects as Francisco Otilio Gaytan, Benny Licongomez, and Eduardo Lopez.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that Francisco Otilio Gaytan, 27, Benny Licongomez, 27, and Eduardo Lopez, 21, are accused of a “predatory attack” that took place in the Northridge neighborhood early Saturday morning. All three men have been charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted second-degree robbery. The rising star’s death has sent shockwaves through the local music scene and beyond.
According to the District Attorney’s office, the three men approached a parked vehicle shortly before 1:25 a.m. on November 22nd on Bryant Street in Northridge. They allegedly demanded money from the occupants before opening fire, fatally wounding De La Rosa. She was in the car with two friends who were unharmed.
Hochman stated that Gaytan and Licongomez are currently in custody, while a warrant has been issued for Lopez’s arrest.
“This was a ruthless and intentional act that took the life of a young woman and artist, and inflicted deep, lasting trauma on her family and the two surviving victims,” Hochman said.
Bail has been set at $2.18 million for Gaytan, $2.28 million for Licongomez, and will be $2.205 million upon Lopez’s apprehension.
If convicted, all three men face a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, TMZ reports.
