A case of imported dengue fever has been diagnosed in a recently arrived individual at the Sia hospital, health officials confirmed on March 19, 2026.
A press release detailed the response to the case.
Health authorities immediately implemented a series of measures to prevent the spread of the disease. The patient is being isolated for one week and mosquito breeding sites around the patient’s residence are being eliminated with fumigation within a 150-meter radius. Enhanced epidemiological surveillance is also underway.
Officials are advising the public to take preventative measures against mosquito bites, including the use of repellents and the destruction of mosquito breeding grounds. Individuals experiencing symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, joint pain, body aches, or rash are urged to seek medical attention promptly. Dengue fever, while not typically widespread, poses a public health concern due to its potential for severe complications.
The health agency is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
