Valuable Draw for Deportivo Cali
Deportivo Cali secured a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Atlético Bucaramanga in Round 8 of the 2026 Apertura tournament, playing at the Estadio Américo Montanini in Bucaramanga. The match saw Deportivo Cali play with ten men for a significant portion after defender Fernando Álvarez was sent off.

“From a tactical standpoint, before the 34th minute [when Álvarez was sent off], I think the team was well positioned,” coach Alberto Gamero explained after the match. “After the 34th minute and in the second half with a man down, I think the players performed well, behaved well, and earned an significant point.”
“I think they did a very good job tactically. Today, a point was earned through their effort, their mentality, and the intelligent energy they set in to withstand Bucaramanga’s offensive pressure,” added the manager.
